In Times Square during the seasons busiest shopping frenzy, the Toys ‘R Us store had some costumed Disney characters give holiday greetings to the many tourists passing by. Bochurim who were there on Mivtzoim found out that one of them was Jewish! They got him to light the Menorah right there in Times Square.

With great sadness we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Peretz Hecht OBM, longtime resident of Crown Heights who merited special kiruvim from the Rebbe. He also merited to study in Tomchei Temimim on Bedford and Dean.
Reb Peretz is survived by his wife Chaya who is a morah in Oholei Torah kindergarden, and his children; Rivky Piekarsky (Crown Heights), Shea Hecht (Australia/Israel), Rochel Kaplan (Shlucha in Baltimore, MD), Faigy Carlebach (Crown Heights), Devorah Halberstam (Crown Heights), Shternie Wineberg (Shlucha in Johannesburg, South Africa), Bruchie Karp (Crown Heights), and Sruly Hecht (Crown Heights).
Hundreds attended the lighting of the 8th candle in 770. Following the custom, the Menorah was lit and was followed by Havdalah.

Horav Hachossid Rabbi Moshe Aharon Geisinsky was born on the 21st of Teves, 5677/1917 in the village of Tashan Pereaislav, a suburb of Kiev to Reb Ben Zion, a chossid of the Rachmistrivker Rebbes of the Chernobyl dynasty and to Mrs. Chaya Rochel, a daughter of a prominent Rabbinical family. This time period constituted an important chapter in the history of Chabad Chassidus marking the Soviet persecutions of the 1930’s until the present day.

SYDNEY, Australia — On Thursday, 13 December 2013, the 6th night of Chanukah Great celebrations were held in Sydney hosted by, Chabad Youth NSW together with the Yeshiva Centre – Chabad NSW HQ and CBD Chabad. The program began with a Menorah Parade, followed by a public Menorah lighting and a magic show.
The menorah was center stage Sunday at the Arneson River Theater. Created from 1,000 cans of food, it made its debut thanks to children who collected the items to help those in need.
