In advance of the weeklong Jewish festival of Sukkot, the Transportation and Security Administration reminded its airport screeners and the travelling public that Jewish travelers may carry the Four Species – a palm branch, myrtle twigs, willow branches, and a citron fruit known in Hebrew as an etrog – through security checkpoints and onboard planes.
Led by Rabbi Boruch Dov Lesches, the Lubavitch community of Monsey joined the broader Frum community to perform Kapparos.

Mendy Lebowitz, Shmuly Posner and Yaakov Tisashvili, three Students of Yeshiva Bais Dovid Shlomo in Connecticut, went out to Yale University to spread the light of Judaism in honor of the the High Holidays. Many students put on Tefilin with them, among them the young man pictured above, and many more received a guide for the upcoming Holidays.

Taking on the task of feeding the thousands of guests after Yom Kippur and during Sukkos was not enough for Nachum Markowitz. Standing outside 770 today, Erev Yom Kippur, he was handing out ‘Lekach’ and drinks of orange juice ahead of the fast.
Erev Yom Kippur Jews worldwide took part in the age-old custom of ‘shlugging’ Kapores. In Crown Heights it was organized by NCFJE, who had locations in a number of places in the neighborhood.
An order list released this morning by the Supreme Court detailing which cases would be heard during its upcoming term did not include the Rubashkin case, leaving many wondering what that omission might mean.
