A Kind, Caring Vancouver Rabbi Who Spoke With ‘Clarity and Passion’
Rabbi Lipa Dubrawsky, scholar and educator of thousands, passed away suddenly at the age of 56. A beloved rabbi and the educational director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Vancouver, Canada, he touched the lives of many people through his classes, optimistic attitude and personal warmth.
In July of 1989, Chabad presented Prime Minister Thatcher with a menorah. In preparation for the meeting, she had been advised that under traditional Jewish law and custom, men and women do not shake hands. The story goes that she walked into the room, put her hands behind her back and greeted the rabbis with a small bow.
Thatcher Recalled With Respect and ‘Great Pride’
The anecdotes proved plentiful, respectful and admirable. Chabad-Lubavitch representatives called to mind the wise and witty former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her various one-on-one encounters with them.

Its no joke, the suspect accused of torching a dozen mezuzahs in Williamsburg this week has confessed to hate crime charges. According to his own social media posting it was retaliation for burning Chometz! After being pressed by cops he finally admitted his role in the arson’s.

After Declaring ‘Victory’, Vaad Files Notice of Appeal
In what can only be described as a scene from the ‘theater of the absurd’, lawyers for Vaad L’Hafotzas Sichos filed a notice of appeal in Federal Court today. This comes after a sweeping ruling was issued on March 29th in favor of Merkos and Kehot, while the Vaad and their politically aligned mouthpieces declared victory.
