Another Phone Snatched, Cops Respond in Full Force

Yesterday evening at about 7:30pm a bochur was down Albany Ave. near the corner of President St. while speaking on his cell phone. Suddenly, he was jumped by two African-American males, one of whom snatched the phone out of his hand.

Walk 4 Friendship in Illinois Raises over $32,000

On Sunday, October 13, nearly 450 people joined The Stuart I. Raskas Friendship Circle of Illinois for their fifth annual Walk4Friendship. Teen volunteers, children with special needs, their families, and the community at large enjoyed an afternoon of solidarity to promote inclusion and to raise funds and awareness for children with special needs.

Old timers in Chabad and the larger frum community remember all too well the 1991 Crown Heights riots and a New York City that suffered from high crime, unsafe streets and an unresponsive mayor’s office. To them, the transformation of New York under Giuliani and Bloomberg, from an ungovernable Gotham to becoming the safest large city in the country, is truly remarkable.
