Smoke at Utah Chabad House Prompts Evacuation of Children, Torahs

Monday afternoon, at about 12:45pm, the headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch of Utah in Salt Lake City began to inexplicably fill with smoke. Children attending a daycare center in the building were quickly evacuated, along with the Shul’s Sifrei Torah.

It was an unusual sight on Friday night at Judaism’s most sacred site, the Western Wall. Around the blue-and-white Israeli flag, waving over the multitudes of Sabbath prayer-goers, a group of young adults were holding hands and dancing – in complete silence.
