Detectives Remembered on the 50th Anniversary of their Death
50 years ago on this day two detectives from the 71st Precinct made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. While investigating a complaint, detectives James A. Donegan and Salvatore Potenza came under fire and were both killed. On the anniversary of their passing, family, friends and law enforcement gathered to remember their sacrifice.

Marking the final night of Simchas Beis Hashoeva in Crown Heights, thousands danced joyously until the music stopped at midnight. The throngs of Chasidim then made their way up Kingston Avenue to 770, where Tehillim and Chumash Devarim were recited until dawn.
Alternate Side Parking Suspended Thursday and Friday
Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended Thursday and Friday, October 16-17, for Shemini Atzeres and Simchas Torah. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.
