In what is being billed as the first ever Chasidic wedding in Thailand, hundreds of guests – including Shluchim, travelers and members of the local Jewish community – gathered in Bangkok today for the wedding celebration of Gabi Kaltmann of Melbourne, Australia, and Mushki Kantor, daughter of Chabad Shliach to Thailand Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor.
Rabbi Mendel Cohen, Mariupol’s rabbi and Chabad emissary, at the main synagogue with several congregants. The minyan takes place three times a day, and Torah classes are going on as usual.

The body of Aron Sofer, the 23 year old yeshiva bochur who went missing on Friday, has been found in the Jerusalem Forest in Ein Kerem, according to a spokesperson for Ichud Hatzalah.

JLI Teens Teaches What’s Relevant to Jewish Youth
Amid the gleaming, densely populated towers of Hong Kong, a dozen Jewish teenagers from various backgrounds were in full-swing class mode at the headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch of Hong Kong. The conversation grew more animated as the subject matter jumped from bullying to honesty to issues of privacy. The teens were excited, engaged. They tried individually to express their own opinions, grappling to apply the core Jewish principles they had been discovering to the topics at hand.

Op-Ed: Is Jewish Inferior?
We’re in one of the rooms in the Pediatrics Department at Downstate Medical Center. My brother, 16, was suffering from severe stomach pains, and our doctor sent him for some tests and rest until they’ll have it all figured out. I’m sitting beside his bed scribbling on the margins of a Sudoku book; he’s watching a video on my phone. While contemplating my future summer plans, an official looking guy – dressed casually, but definitely working for the Hospital – with a big smile walks in, and explaining that his job is to ensure that the Hospitals patients don’t fall behind in their studying for the upcoming high school Regents, asks if my brother will be needing any help.

What does it feel like to try and communicate when you have an expressive language disorder? Maybe something like talking through a mouthful of marshmallows. How about trying to follow verbal instructions when you’re a visual processor? A lot like focusing on a story while wearing blackout glasses and having the ABCs whispered in your ear. We often hear the names of different disabilities, but do we really understand the challenge they imply?
