Australians Show Solidarity with Terror Victims

Rabbi Yaakov Barber, a Chabad Shaliach from Melbourne, Australia, came to Israel recently with members of his community on a visit of solidarity with the people of Israel. Together with a delegation from Chabad’s Terror Victims Project, they visited the families of the terror victims who were violently murdered in Israel in the last weeks by incomprehensible, senseless stabbings and by cars used as weapons. And they went to see those who were injured in these terror acts and are in the hospital.

After its remarkable success in 2013-14 the ‘Darkeinu Olympics’ Jewish heritage quiz returned for a second round with over 1,400 pupils from the FJC’s ‘Or Avner’ network of Jewish school in the Former Soviet Union attending the first stage – a written test on selected chapters from the ‘Darkeinu’ learning program.

Letter & Spirit: Overcoming Difficulty to Achieve Success

In this week’s edition of Letter & Spirit, we present a unique letter written by the Rebbe in 1948 to a supporter of the [Frierdiker] Rebbe and of Chabad during its early years in America who “found the road of his efforts rough and difficult.” The letter was written through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by his son-in-law Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.

Vigilant Bystanders Deliver Mugger to Hands of Justice

In the light of day and in the heart of Crown Heights, two African-American men assaulted and mugged a young Jewish man. Thanks to the heroic efforts of several bystanders, one of the perpetrators was caught and arrested.

The FBI made 15 arrests in Williamsburg, Kiryas Joel and Monsey Thursday involving an apparent long-term mortgage and welfare fraud case. Most of the arrestees are members of an extended family of Satmar Chasidim.
