Next week will mark the opening of the International Conference of Shluchim in Crown Heights, an event which will bring thousands of Chabad emissaries from around the world to New York City. One of the chief concerns is safety, and addressing that were representatives from the NYPD and Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, who met at the Jewish Children’s Museum.

Tonight marks the 20^th Yahrtzeit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach, OBM. During a visit to Sydney, Australia, for several concerts in the summer of 1979, he made a surprise visit to the Chabad Yeshiva Centre while a Yud Beis Tammuz farbrengen was being held by local Anash. Rabbi Aryeh Solomon was present and took photos of the occasion, which he shared with CrownHeights.info.

A 17-year-old yeshivah student died of injuries sustained when he was run down by a terrorist’s van at a light-rail station Jerusalem earlier this week. It was the second death resulting from an attack that also killed a border police officer and wounded more than a dozen bystanders and police.
