Schoolchildren throughout Jerusalem awoke Wednesday morning to an announcement more common for North America than for the Jewish state: snow day, no school. A storm flowing from Eastern Europe is drubbing northern and central Israel with heavy winds and snow.
14 Years in the Making, Work Begins on S. Diego Eruv
The Jewish community of University City in S. Diego, CA, has for many years lived without the ability to leave their homes on Shabbos with a baby carriage or a Talis, due to the lack of an Eruv. Thanks to a 14-year campaign, the local Chabad Center has finally obtained the permits necessary, and construction has already begun on the project.

Students Pack the House at Chabad of UVM
Burlington, the largest city in Vermont, was named as the “best college town in America” by Travel and Leisure last year. The city’s numerous bike paths, coffee shops and music venues together with, arguably, the best skiing on the East Coast just a half hour drive away, are clear incentives for prospective students. It is a town that prides itself on its progressive and liberal attitudes—an environment that might seem unlikely for the flourishing and vibrant campus Chabad House that has become a favorite for Jewish students at University of Vermont.
