Letter & Spirit: The Urgency of Education
In this week’s edition of Letter and Spirit, in honor of Purim, we present a letter from the Rebbe in which he makes reference to the Purim Megillah as it relates to the urgency of devoting time to the education of our children, as Mordechai did in a time of crisis. The letter was written in English through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by the latter’s son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.

A Purim Telegram in 1962
A telegram sent by the Rebbe to two individuals in Amsterdam, encouraging them to “use out the remaining hours of Purim to increase in Mishloach Monos Matonos and all practical and influence others to do do as well” was sent in 1962.

Friday: Rally at the Ohel
On Friday, 15 Adar II-Shushan Purim (March 25), there will be a rally at the Ohel for all children ages 5 to 12, featuring raffles and an amazing program. Buses will leave 770 at 11:00am and return at 1:30pm. Transportation will cost $3.

In Russia, the 1,000’s of members of the Jewish community merged the celebration of the completion of a brand new Sefer Torah along with the holiday of Purim in the Marina Roscha Synagogue in Moscow.
International Chidon Sefer Hamitzvos Finalists Announced
1,832 chayolim from 45 Tzivos Hashem bases across America, Canada, Australia, and England have been studying the 613 mitzvos. Three qualifying tests over the past 6 months challenged students to the utmost, determining who is eligible to join the International Chidon Shabbaton in Crown Heights.
