Outrage Over “Party” on Purim Eve
A “party” hosted on Purim eve was reminiscent of the party that was hosted by King Achashverosh, replete with mingling, food, live music and even a belly dancer, has drawn widespread shock and outrage – even forcing a Kashrus agency to rethink their policies for parties at venues they certify, and the venue to distance itself from the event.

Kosher Cooking Competition Draws Hundreds, Raises Thousands
While most were winding down their weekend, the party was only getting started at Cheder Chabad in Upper Park Heights. On Feb. 25, the school hosted its first annual Kosher Cooking Competition, turning the historic former Beth Jacob synagogue into a loud, colorful and aromatic gathering place for the community to witness more than 30 contestants vie not only for bragging rights, but a kitchen makeover worth an estimated $20,000.

CTeen wrapped up the epic 10th Annual Shabbaton this weekend, with an emotional and uplifting Motzai Shabbos Havdalah, as well Banquet at Brooklyn’s Pier 12; both events featured a heartfelt tribute to the victims of Stoneman Douglas High School.

Weekly Story: No Longer A Sardine
The Sardine in the can is complete, from its head to its tail. That means a Jew can be learning Torah, – he has a head – and its fins and scales are noticeable, which figuratively means, that not only is the individual fulfilling all of the mitzvos, but he is doing so meticulously. In addition the sardine has its spine – demonstrating that this person has a backbone and conviction to fulfill the Torah and mitzvos.

A group of yeshivah students gathered at the bedside of Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz last week and presented him with a digital portrait composed of thousands of miniaturized images of men, women and children around the world doing mitzvahs in honor of his 46th birthday.
