Today, Yud Tes Kislev, “The Rosh Hashanah of Chassidus,” marks 219 years since the release of the Alter Rebbe, R. Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of Chasidus Chabad, from prison in the year 5559 (1798). This year also marks 205 years since the Alter Rebbe’s Histalkus. In honor of this auspicious day, which is referred to by Chasidim as the “Holiday of Holidays,” Farbrengens are being held around the world!

Chanukah Celebrated in Australia’s Parliament
On the last sitting day of Australia’s Parliament and Senate, Thursday, December 7th, the Jewish festival of Chanukah was celebrated at the now-yearly “Chanukah on the Hill” event. In attendance were the Jewish politicians from the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as other politicians from all sides of politics who came to enjoy and learn from the joyous festival.
