Measles Outbreak in the Frum Community

Following an exciting holiday season with lots of traveling around the world, a virus has made its way back into the United States, and into the frum community in particular. Six cases of the measles have been reported in Williamsburg, hospitalizing at least one, and 11 cases have been confirmed in Rockland County.

Boro Park Cabby Given a $15,000 Bail

Cabby that beat Lipa Schwartz, 62, in Boro Park which caused officials to demand better policing of hate crimes, has been given a $15,000 bail option. Coincidentally, the judge who presided over his hearing was Ruchie Frier, a frum Judge and leader of Ezras Nashim, the all woman first response organization.

New Shluchim to Southern Utah

Rabbi Mendy and Chaya Cohen, and their two young children, are setting up shop in St. George. Located at the southwestern border, St. George is a two-hour drive from the Jewish community of Las Vegas. It’s not a big move for Chaya: the twenty-two year old grew up four hours north in Salt Lake City where her parents, Rabbi Benny and Sharonne Zippel, are Chabad representatives. It was difficult to assemble a minyan for my circumcision, as everyone was scared to come outdoors and, thereafter, my parents had to hide me in an orphanage while they fled the Nazis.

Torah Treasure Presents “Parsha Time”

When deciding what content to create next, Producer Chaim Hershkowitz knew that it would have to be about the Parshios. “I knew it was time to create something that was new, fresh and upbeat.” With that goal, Chaim’s first choice was Chanaleh Fellig-Harrel; who has written songs for him in the past. He asked her to come up with new songs for each Parsha.

Yosef Karduner Back in Crown Heights

Yosef Karduner, world famous musician and performer, will be coming to Crown Heights this Motzei Shabbat (Saturday, October 20th). Karduner played for a packed house in Crown Heights venues in the past. The show received largely positive reviews and due to the demand, a new show has been planned for this year, at Wine by the Case (511 Empire Boulevard)
