With our awareness of golus ever heightened during the Three Weeks, two organizations are working to bring light to this dark time with a new emphasis on an often-overlooked mivtza. In a tremendous act of Kiddush Hashem, several Shomrim volunteers prepared temporary living quarters for the residents of 556 New York Ave., who had to evacuate their apartments after the building caught fire yesterday. The volunteers remained at the relief center, which was set up inside a local public school, to assist the evacuees and distribute amenities for their comfort.
