The underside of the Brooklyn Bridge was struck by a crane being pushed by a tugboat around 8 p.m. So far, it looks like the crane hit temporary scaffolding beneath the bridge—the damage appears to be in the middle of deck halfway across river.

When a recipe moved over the wire for hamantashen — triangular, fruit-filled cookies associated with the Jewish holiday of Purim — it took me back five years to a particularly festive day of a 10-day trip to Israel.

Chabad Hebrew School Brings Purim Joy to Seniors

Smiles were seen on both children and seniors at a local Purim party hosted by the Chabad of Briarcliff, Hebrew School in upstate New York, directed by Rabbi Dovid and Miriam Labkowski. Throughout the year, the students have been participating in an “Adopt a Senior Program.” This is the second holiday party held for the seniors, in addition to the private visits that are made by the students.

Almost 200 people attended the Lubavitch Purim Concert and Dinner in Glasgow, Scotland on Purim. Bookings for the event closed three weeks before Purim, and on the night of the event there was a waiting list of 30 people!

More than 1200 men, women and children gathered for an evening of Torah, Tefilla and Tzedaka at the at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the Los Angeles Grand Citywide 30th Siyum HoRambam last week. The “achdus” event, sponsored by West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch and more than 30 local Chabad centers, was the largest such gathering in the history of Jewish Los Angeles.
