On Chof Ches Sivan, the students and teachers of Cheder Menachem were treated to a special privilege. Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin Head Shliach of California came to the Cheder and brought with him a wooden trunk which carried some of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s luggage on the ship which brought them to America on Chof Ches Sivan 5701 – 70 years ago!

This Tuesday will mark the 17th year since the passing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson. Looking at the growth of the Chabad movement worldwide, these past 17 years are a testament to the words of the Sages, “The righteous, even following their passing, are called alive.” All that the Rebbe stood for, felt passionate about, and initiated during his 45-year tenure as leader of Chabad has been elevated to the next level.

Until now, the private life of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, has been shrouded in mystery. For those who live for life’s excitement, the answer will be the dazzling skylines of Manhattan or Chicago.

You will get your most unusual answer from me: My favorite place in the United States of America is Brooklyn, New York, for its present, past, and future!

Rubashkin Bail Denied; Appeal Still Under Consideration

Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin’s motion for bail pending the outcome of his appeal has been denied by the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. The Court handed down its decision in a brief sentence, before the defense could file its response to the government brief contesting the bail motion. The judges have not yet ruled on the appeal itself.
