CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Whoever thought that the elections for a new Rov in our community would go easy would be wrong. The Beis Din just granted another few days to find a candidate to replace Rabbi Mangel, who will not be running in the upcoming elections.
With great sadness and deep pain we inform you of the tragic and extremely untimely passing of Aryeh (Jay) Levin, at the young age of 28.
Aryeh passed away tragically after drowning in White Lake, where he was swimming. Rescue personal searched for him for over 3 hours, until divers located him. Chesed Shel Emes was on the scene and made sure proper Kavod HaMes was given.

Rabbi Menachem Stern’s stringy brown beard is hardly an unusual sight in his Brooklyn neighborhood. But in trying to become a chaplain in the U.S. Army, Mr. Stern has gotten tangled in a military bureaucracy that has made exceptions for other beards, but not his.
A man was once accused of a serious crime. The evidence was so incriminating that a guilty verdict was all but inevitable. “Your only hope,” advised his lawyer “is to enter a plea of insanity; but you must remember to act crazy in court.”
The man followed his lawyer’s counsel and put on a great act. He made the strangest sounds as he twitched his head and thrashed his hands. So well had he performed, that the case was soon dismissed.
To his utter dismay, when the lawyer came to collect his fee, the man resumed his ridiculous gig; strange motions and all. He soon realized that he had become the butt of his own ploy – his expert advice had come back to bite him.
