More Time Given to Find another Candidate for Rov

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Whoever thought that the elections for a new Rov in our community would go easy would be wrong. The Beis Din just granted another few days to find a candidate to replace Rabbi Mangel, who will not be running in the upcoming elections.

According to the latest letter from the Beis Din, headed by Rabbi Avrohom Rosenberg, he writes that after a discussion amongst all 5 Dayonim it was decided to give the Schwei side to find a replacement candidate until 12:00am EST on Monday, and the elections will nevertheless take place as scheduled on Sunday, 26th of Elul – 5th of September regardless if an additional candidate will be selected.

This comes after representatives from the Schwei side, Yisroel Sandhause, Yanky Hertzog and Mendy Schneerson, sent a letter to the Beis Din demanding that the candidacy of Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky by disqualified on the ground that it was submitted late, along with a slew of other accusations that should render him ineligible.

They added that because Rabbi Nissen Mangel was away on vacation he could not be reached and therefore they did not know that he is withdrawing his candidacy, despite his family’s clear indication otherwise.

There were also reports that the same side made a request of the Beis Din to not go forward with the elections for Rabonim, since that status quo is acceptable in their opinion.

One source close with the elections said “they had three years to find a new candidate, yet they pull this stunt now, so close to the elections in a shameful attempt to derail it!”

The letter from the Schwei side also requested that the Beis Din give permission to the Gaboim to continue their fight with Merkos in court, which was declined.

  • Despicable

It’s time that the cabal of Herzog, Sperlin, Mendel Schneerson,et.al. were exposed for all the damage they have done to the institutions established by the Rebbe, MHM in 5746.There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that they knew full well that Rabbi Mangel would not accept to be a candidate,as he has stated on many occassions.

Knowing he was out of town and unavailable for comment, they grabbed an opportunity to do what they do best, stall for time, while they frantically searched for a viable candidate.

That they were unable to find one is because EVERYONE knows that these people are active destroyers from behind the scenes and want no part of being involved with them, thank G-d.

Rabbi Rosenberg, it’s time to stop going along with their games.

  • Where is the rav!?!?!?

So in other words the Din TOrah accomplished nothing but a new portal by which to engage in sinas chinam, loshon hara, and shvichas domim.

How does Rav Shwei allow this?????

  • Something is fishy in your news

The letter from the Schwei side also requested that the Beis Din give permission to the Gaboim to continue their fight with Merkos in court, which was declined.

Does this mean that Rabbi Rosenberg Assered the Gabaim to go to court and paskened the the shuls gabaim have to submit to Rabbi Krinsky ???
    Please Explain!!!!

  • Kovod Lerabonim

I think the best candidate to be on the schway side should be a longtime member of our shchuna our dear friend and big talmid chochom.
    HORAV HAGOON DOVID MENDELBAUM SHLITA.
but first they have to beg of him to accept this namination.

  • In confidence hasumma min ha-ayin

Wouldn’t it make sense for Rabbi Rosenberg to make himself available in Crown Heights for confidential approach by either candidates, nominators, or family of potential candidates who want/need reassurances of certain basics (guarantee of regularity of income could be a starter, he can hardly be xpected to silence all barking dogs.)

  • Zalman Zuchenheimer

Lets not forget, Shvay said when Segal and Zirkin were put up for elections five years ago, IF ONLY I HAD A FEW MORE DAYS I WOULD HAVE A CANDIDATE TO REPRESENT ME. FIVE YEARS LATER NOT A SINGLE HUMAN BEING WOULD JOIN HIM!!!!!!!!!!

THE REASON IS CAUSE HE IS GUILTY by association he has five people that spend to much time in his presence 1,Kraus 2 Shneerson 3 Sandhouse 4 Herjog 5 a combination of a few Tzfatim.

  • Mendel Schneersohn

Let Mendel Schneersohn run for 3rd Rav…He can’t be any worse then what we have….I say VOTE for Mendel!

  • to #3

it is unfortunate that this isn’t explained here. But those that saw the note issued by R’ Rosenberg know that it said that they should go to a beis din outside of crown heights to settle it, not court. Id did not mean to submit to Rabbi krinsky. It also says, by the way, that once the crown heights beis din is full they should go to them. How they can switch botei din in middle is beyond me.

  • a litter respect

Rabbi Schwei Rabbi Schwei not just “Schwei side” have a litter respect

  • Rabbi Fatz

    To Despicable:
Who calls whom a destroyer? With your big mouth and your crass demeanor, without ever having run for anything, you have done more to drive our youth off the derech and and plain chasidim away from community activity than anybody you slandered above. There is little left for you to foul up here.

  • anonymous

A Rabbi Braun from Sydney (son in law of Lipsker) is going to run for the job of third Rov

  • Sliach Fro California

you CH idiots deserve everything youre getting.
you took a commuity and destroyed it
A leader is nothing more than the people he represents

  • mvh

R Braun is a great rov for one of his age, and it wouldn’t surprise me if one day he did become rov of a major community such as Crown Heights, but that day isn’t today. I don’t know whether he’s under 40 or slightly over, but he’s certainly not much over, and for a position like this a candidate should not just be “zeh shekono chochmo” but also literally older.

  • Half Nelson

I nominate Derrick Nelson the GPS thief.

At least this way we’ll know our new rov will only steal a GPS every few months.
