Rabbinical Council of Canada elects Lubavitcher as new President

Montreal, Canada — The Rabbinical Council of Canada, Montreal region, has elected a Lubavitch Rabbi to serve as its new President. The newly elected president is Rabbi Asher Jacobson who serves as Rabbi at the Chevra Kadisha B’nei Jacob – Beis Hazikaron Shul in Montreal.

The R.C.C. has in the past several years increased their vital role for the Montreal Jewish community. Most recent is its geirot program which is under the auspices of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA). The council works closely with the Va’ad Ha’ir, the MK, in areas of kashrus and policy for the Montreal community, that serves over 90,000 Jewish people.

Accompanied by the Neginah Orchestra Yaakov Shwekey along with a number of performers entertained the crowd that gathered at the Monticello Raceway as has become custom on Motzoai Shabbos Nachamu.
