The R.C.C. has in the past several years increased their vital role for the Montreal Jewish community. Most recent is its geirot program which is under the auspices of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA). The council works closely with the Va’ad Ha’ir, the MK, in areas of kashrus and policy for the Montreal community, that serves over 90,000 Jewish people.

Rabbi Jacobson is set to call the first council meeting at the end of August where he will be laying down a prioritized agenda for the next two years. He will be joined by newly-elected vice president, Rabbi Adam Schier of the Shaar Hashamayim synagogue and Rabbi Schacar Orenstein of the Spanish & Portuguese synagogue, as treasurer. The council is a composite of over 33 orthodox synagogues and institutions.
Over the past seven years, Rabbi Jacobson has led Chevra Kadisha B’nei Jacob – Beis Hazikaron, taking the synagogue to new heights. With over 800 families as members the synagogue is filled with activities and educational programs.
Rabbi Jacobson sits as a board member on many Montreal organizations and is an associate professor at Concordia University.

In my eyes its not a good thing, the RCC was established to fight the VAAD HAIR (MK) which is the main Beis Din, and the RCC does Geirus which arent accepted, etc.
I think it would’ve been better to stay out.

It is a wonderful idea to have a Lubavitcher Tomim hold this position. Rabbi Jacobson has accomplished many great things in a short period of time both in his shul and the Montreal community.
Asher “Ushi” keep it up!!
