New Mikvah in Crown Heights!

Yesterday (Monday) evening there was a Kiddush and Chanukas Habayis for a newly renovated Mikvah in Crown Heights. Donated by the Rabkin family in memory of their father R. Meir Rabkin Z”L who’s Yortziet was yesterday the 27th of Kislev.

The Mikvah is scheduled to be opened when the ‘Otzar’ of rain water fills. The new Mikvah is located at 394 Kingston Ave. which is between Montgomery St. and Crown St.

Cherry Hill, NJ — Preschoolers at Reform synagogue Adath Emanu-El’s Early Childhood Center sat mesmerized Monday morning as Rabbi Yitzchok Kahan told them a Hanukkah story on the third day of the eight-day Festival of Lights.

Kahan, of Chabad Lubavitch of Camden and Burlington Counties, told how the Greeks defiled the ancient temple in Jerusalem more than 2,000 years ago.

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada — The crowd gave a small cheer when Doug Raphael lit the first lamp on the giant menorah in downtown Halifax.

The Halifax architect used a cherry picker to get up to the top of the six-metre-tall Jewish ceremonial candelabra and a blowtorch to light it in front of a crowd of about 100 people at the Grand Parade.

The tidings of the tragic event in Eilat has shocked and bewildered Chabad communities in Israel, shocked at the results of the fatal accident claiming the lives of three Chabad bochrim on their way to mivtzaim in Eilat. Additionally, four other bochrim were hurt at the Tsichor – Eilat intersection. One of the injured bochrim was flown to the Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva and had managed to speak to his parents before he was operated on.

3rd Light at Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn

Last night at what is called the tallest menorah in Brooklyn, a large crowd gathered for the lighting of the menorah. Live music was played by Dovid’s one man band while parents and children danced. Hot Latkes were served and before the lighting Chanukah gifts were distributed (They were donated by ‘Dovid’s One Man Band’).

The menorah was lit by Shmuli Backer with R. Shimon Hecht, they were lifted up in a ConEd ‘Cherry Picker’ 20ft in the air. The crowd responded amen to the brochos followed by lively singing Haneiros Halalu and dancing.

Hanukkah on Ice Brings Community Together

Salt Lake City, UT — Skating around the oval at the Gallivan Center on Sunday, Jews, Christians, agnostics and people of other faiths celebrated Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights.

Rabbi Benny Zippel of Chabad Lubavitch expected up to 200 people to attend the Hanukkah on Ice event, although about half that showed up for free skating and festivities, probably because of the snowstorm.

Clark County, WA — The lighting of a 9-foot-tall menorah in Esther Short Park on Sunday was a simple and intimate affair.

About 75 people braved the cold weather and gathered for the lighting of the menorah, which is used by Jews in rites during the eight-day festival of Hanukkah.
