Sukkah Destruction Investigated As Hate Crime

The NYPD is investigating a possible bias crime after someone vandalized a Chabad sukkah on the Upper East Side.

From the NY Post:

The temporary hut was set up in Samuel Seabury Playground at E. 96th and Lexington Ave. for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot when the destruction was discovered around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The plastic walls of the sukkah were sliced with a knife and was it lying on its side, said Rabbi Uriel Vigler of the Chabad Israel Center of the Upper East Side.

“I was driving past and saw that it was turned over,” Vigler said.

“I thought maybe the wind knocked it over but then I noticed that the walls were actually cut. They looked like they were sliced with a knife.”
