Sunday: Ahavas Chesed Blood Drive

There will be a Ahavas Chesed Blood Drive Sunday, January 31st, the 16th of Shevat, 2:00pm untill 9:00pm. It is sponsored in memory of Yossi Tewel OBM, founder and lifeblood of Ahavas Chesed. The center is located at 271 Kingston Ave, between Lincoln Place and St Johns Place.

Motzoi Shabbos: Rally at the Ohel

There will be Melava Malka rally at the Ohel this Motzoi Shabbos, Tu B’Shvat, January 30th. The rally will be for all children ages 5 to 12. Buses leave 770 at 7:00 and return at 9:00. There will be a special program in honor of Tu B’Shvat.

A Cry for Help – Reach Out and Support a Family in Need

At 1:30 AM on Tuesday Jan 19, 2010 – Gimmel Shvat in the Hebrew calendar, our father, Rabbi Yosef Tevel passed away. He was 55 years old and it was his birthday. His sudden death, caused by a bursted blood vessel in his brain has left us in complete shock.

Wednesday: Tragedies in our Midst – The Yiddishe Response

Tonight, the 5th of Shvat, Wednesday there will be a seminar on dealing with tragedies and death. How community members should respond to tragedy. It is titled “Tragedies in our Midst – The Yiddishe Response.” The seminar will begin 8:00 pm at Beis Rivka, 470 Lefferts Ave [corner Brooklyn Ave].

Alternate Side Parking Rules are Suspended Today

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) in conjunction with the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) today announced the suspension of Alternate Side Parking (ASP) regulations Citywide for Friday, January 8th to facilitate snow removal. However, parking meters will remain in effect throughout the City.
