Chabad of the Valley Mivtzoim at Israel Festival

TARZANA, CA [CHI] — Once again, with the help of many Anash and Shluchim, Chabad of the Valley has reached its goal of putting on Tefillin with well over 1500 Jews. In addition, close to 3500 Neshek packs were distributed. All in all, the giant Chabad Mivtza booth was a Kiddush Shem Lubavitch. Several people made a commitment to put on Tefillin on a daily basis.

58 Tanks Spread Light and Good Deeds in NY!

New York, NY [CHI] — This morning, Wednesday Bochurim and Children were seen milling around President Street, where they were all looking for their ‘Mitzvah Tanks’ and the group they will be sharing it with. The 58 Tanks, which correspond to the number of years of the Rebbes Nesius, were all lined up and ‘armed’ with Pesach Guides, Matzos, Neshe”K and pairs of Tefillin, to set off on the annual Mitzvah Tank Parade commemorating the Rebbes birthday which takes place today, Wednesday, Yud Alef Nissan.

Jewish Prisoner Settles Suit Over Denial of Religious Rights

Workers at the Aleph Institute, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization based in Surfside, Fla., that provides for the needs of Jewish prisoners and military personnel, prepare shipments of Passover supplies.

The Vermont Department of Corrections settled a lawsuit with a Jewish former inmate who had been denied kosher food over Passover and ritual items over Chanukah and Purim. As part of its $25,000 settlement with Gordon Bock, 53, the department agreed to alter its policies dealing with the free exercise of religion and rely on the recommendations of the Aleph Institute, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization based in Surfside, Fla.

London Yeshiva Distributes Over 2,000 Matzos!

LONDON, England [CHI] — Amid an unusually snowy Sunday morning, Yeshiva Gedola London was abuzz with activity when fifty Bochurim worked for over six hours packing and distributing matzos to over two thousand families living in the neighborhood of the yeshiva – Hampstead Garden Suburb, London. Each box was carefully packed with two full Shmura Matzos and a Passover guide.

Purim at the Lebanon Border!

TZFAT, Israel [CHI] — Like every year, Talmidim of Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim went out for “Mivtza Purim” at the border of Lebanon. Armed with Megillas and Mishloach Monos wearing different types of costumes and with much energy and excitement did the Bochurim go out to conquer the army bases at the border of Lebanon.

PITTSBURGH, PA — I couldn’t count how many odd stares I received yesterday.

Maybe it was the Hanukkah music playing through loudspeakers of our RV-turned-Hanukkah Mobile, maybe it was the teenage boys in the back with me who wished everyone we saw a Happy Hanukkah and passed out menorahs, dreidels and chocolate from the moving vehicle.

Chabad of Tucson Celebrates Chanukah

TUCSON, AZ [CHI] — Last week Chabd of Tucson held their annual olive press demonstration in the Foothills Mall. The presentation was enjoyed by many. Rabbi Shemtov, Yossi Beenstock and Shraga Putter entertained the crowd with the fascinating story of Channuka. Children were called up to help with the pressing of the olives and were given a Dreidle to take home with them.

Upward of 100 cars — each topped with a blazing electric menorah that plugs into the cigarette lighter — will crawl through the cold night from Oak Park to West Bloomfield Township at slowpoke speeds in the annual Hanukkah Parade, which starts at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Thirty Menorah Topped SUVs to Spread Chanukah Light in Southern California

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA [CHI] – Bochurim in Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon Chabad are taking on a special way to do Chanukah Mivtzoim this year. Thirty Menorah topped brand new SUVs will be shuttling Bochurim on Mivtzoim all over Southern California.

Arranged by the Shluchim in Yeshiva, each SUV was loaded up with menorahs and doughnuts to be distributed by the four Bochurim in the suvs. In addition the Shluchim hooked up over 70 menorahs on the cars of residents.

An Early Start to Chanukah

QUEENS, NY [CHI] — Despite the unexpected snow and cold weather, more than 60 children from public schools brought their parents and siblings to a pre-Chanukah exhibition.

The event was held in the Bukharin Jewish Community Center in Queens and was aided by Rabbi Yitzchok Wolowik.

A Friday Mivtzoim Experience to Remember for a Lifetime!

As part of the new and exciting “Project Chabad” of the Lubavitcher Yeshiva, students of the 8th grade are given Mivtzoim routes to go on each Friday after school. This past Friday, 2 Bochurim along with their Mashpia decided to join up with the Friday Mitzvah Tank.
