While the rest of the South Florida Jewish community was preparing for the upcoming holiday weekend, Mark Rosenberg, Dovi Katz and Chaim Markowitz were up in Tallahassee. They were there to make a presentation to the commanders of the Police Departments and Highway Patrols of the State of Florida. Their topic? Jewish death.

It is a trend that is challenging long-held notions about the group’s cultural identity and revealing widening gaps on politics, education, wealth and religious observance.

The magazine says that the social protest hurt the fortunes of the rabbis' by greatly reducing their income from donations from tycoons.

The mother of three from Oakland, Calif., inspected three bags of Trader Joe’s semisweet chocolate chips, a staple in her kosher kitchen.
