Rabbi Yossi Kahanov Shliach to Jacksonville, FL

A story is told of a nobleman who was traveling through the forest when he noticed a large number of trees that had been used for target practice. To his amazement, every arrow was nestled perfectly in the bull’s-eye.

He could not help but marvel over the perfect marksmanship. “Who might possess such extraordinary talent,” he mused?

As he stood there marveling, he beheld a young man off in the distance shooting arrows. He immediately ran towards the boy. “Are you the sharpshooter who has landed all those bull’s-eyes?” he asked. “That is correct sir,” replied the young fellow with a sheepish grin. “You are an awfully talented individual. Where have you acquired such remarkable skill?” “To be honest,” said the lad, “I have developed my own foolproof technique.

Since the attacks, the city’s Fire Department has built a state-of-the-art command center in Brooklyn and is installing Global Positioning System units in fire trucks, but a lack of “pre-planning” is putting first-responders in danger, according to some department officials and outside experts.

Nevertheless, We Have Not Forgotten You

By: Tammy Holtzman – Jewish Press

I first met Shaindel several years ago when she knocked on my door with a request. “Hello,” she said with a smile. “I have two children who need special education, and I’m collecting money for them.”

Something about the honest, straightforward way she said it touched my heart, and I was happy to help out in any way I could.

Over the next few years Shaindel would reappear at my door approximately once a year, always with the same smile.

The Rebbe says:

1. This year the Parshas (Torah portions) of Vayakhel and Pekudei are read together on one Shabbos.

Let us examine our two portions of this Shabbos and see if their names fit with their content:

A few days ago a question has arisen over the Jewish identity of one of the woman working in the ‘Lubavitch Matzah’ bakery in Crown Heights. According to the ‘Shulchan Aruch’ in order for Matzos to be good for use as ‘Matzos Mitzvah’ only a Jew may be involved in the entire process of making the Matzah, for a Goy cannot say ‘Leshem Matzot Mitzvah’.

The bakery employs Russian and Polish ladies that roll the dough, one of which has the question arisen over. The woman had been temporarily removed and all matzos that were baked up until a few days ago will be held until her proper identity can be determined.
