Letter & Spirit: A Modern-Day Queen Esther

In this week’s edition of Letter & Spirit, in honor of Purim, we present a letter from the Rebbe in which he gives encouraging words to a woman who is making efforts to advance in Torah and mitzvos - connecting her efforts to those of Queen Esther in saving her people. The letter was written through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by the latter’s son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.

Rebbe to Netanyahu in 1988: I Had Much Satisfaction from Your Speech; Don’t Be Intimidated

In April of 1988, newly-elected Knesset Member Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Rebbe. The Rebbe said to him: “I had much satisfaction from your first speech in the Knesset. Continue along this approach, for it is the best path to avoid war. You will have to struggle with 119 others in the Knesset, but surely you won’t be intimidated, because G-d is on this side.”
