Picture of the Day: A Raisin-Filled Surprise

Nursing home resident Kate Friedman is pleasantly surprised by a gift of challah from students Aaron Friedman and Sarah Crawford, who are accompanying Rabbi Boruch Shmuel Liberow of the Chabad Student Center of Boca Raton, FL. The trio were delivering Challah to nursing home residents and other local needy in advance of Rosh Hashanah.

NPR Profiles ‘Roving Rabbis’ in Rural West

On Sunday, NPR radio ran a feature broadcast on two Chabad Yeshiva students traveling through rural Arizona this summer as part of the ‘roving rabbis’ program. The two Bochurim, Zalman Refson and Yaakov Kaplan, were interviewed for the program, along with a couple of isolated Jews they encountered on their travels.

Fishel Jacobs has served as Chabad’s emissary to Israel’s prisons, where he visits incarcerated Jews and provides them with refreshments, words of encouragement and the opportunity to perform several Mitzvos. Shliach Thanks Minister for Israel-Belarus Visa-Waiver

To mark the visa-waiver for Israelis traveling to Belarus and Belarusians traveling to Israel, Sofa Landver, Israel’s Minister of Immigrant Absorption, visited the Belarus capital of Minsk. Landver visited the Jewish community and met with the city’s Chief Rabbi Shneur Deitch, who described a city that enjoys peaceful relationship between its minority Jewish community and broader population.
