Gala Banquet for the Tzeirai HaShluchim!
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Close to 500 children of Shluchim who arrived in Crown Heights for the Kinus Hashluchim, took part in the special banquet arranged for them in the Beis Rivkah Campus Chomesh ballroom.

“One of the commission’s foremost areas of concern is to ensure that electric distribution systems are safe and reliable,” said the commission’s chairwoman, Patricia L. Acampora. “Con Edison did not meet four targets for systemwide reliability in 2006. Hopefully, this sends a message to Con Edison that they must be diligent in efforts to maintain a reliable network, or they will face financial consequences.”
Con Edison Is Ordered to Return $18 Million to Customers
The New York State Public Service Commission ordered Consolidated Edison today to return $18 million to its customers for failing to provide safe and reliable service in 2006, a year that included a nine-day blackout that began in Long Island City, Queens, and affected 170,000 people. The highly critical decision could affect Con Edison’s request for a substantial increase in electric rates.

A Moving Farbrengen in Cheder Tzeirei Hashluchim
LAURELTON, Queens [CHI] — While the convention was underway, one stop a Shliach did not forget was the Cheder Tzeirei Hashluchim at the Ohel, where Rabbi Shimon Freundlich, Shliach in Beijing, China came and Farbrenged with the children in honor of Rosh Chodesh Kislev.

BROOKLYN, NY — Rabbi Shlomo Matusof, who was one of the leaders of the Chabad-Lubavitch educational activities in Morocco for close to 50 years, died Saturday night in New York. He was 91.
The news came as a shock to the thousands of Lubavitch emissaries who had gathered in New York for their annual international conference.

In this gallery the banquet begins, with the nearly 500 kids from the ‘Yaldei HaShluchim’ camp marching in singing with the band. Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky then welcomed everybody to the banquet and asked Rabbi Halperin and Rabbi Begun to say the kaptilach of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin.

With the International Conference of Shluchim underway in Crown Heights, police have added lots of extra patrols, both by foot and by car, with the addition of car 1733, also known as the ticket car.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — From the pinnacle of the Kinus, the Banquet on Pier 94 in Manhattan, Shluchim made their way back to Crown Heights, to 770 where Shluchim and Bochurim gathered in the big Zal upstairs and Farbrenged well into the night.
