Liberty Torah Dedicated in Oxnard Handwritten Scroll Honors US Military

OXNARD, CA — A Jewish scribe, using a feather quill, wrote the final words in a torah Sunday, fulfilling a mother’s dream.

The Liberty Torah, handwritten in tiny letters on a scroll, honors members of the U.S. military, present and past.

We would like to wish Mazal Tov to Mendel and Chaya (nee Brennan) Goldberg (Crown Heights) on the birth of their firstborn daughter.

May the newborn be a source of Nachas to her parents, grandparents, relatives and Klal Yisroel.

2 Bochurim Struck by an SUV on Troy Ave

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] – At around 9:45 last night, Sunday two Bochurim were struck by an SUV on Troy Avenue between Empire and Montgomery. The driver stopped, called 911 and waited on scene for assistance.

People who witnessed the accident immediately alerted Hatzalah, who responded within moments and began treating the Bochurim, one of which sustained a possible broken leg. The Bochurim were transported for Kings County Hospital for more checkups and observation.

Hachnosas Safer Torah for Chabad in Rockville Maryland!

ROCKVILLE, MD [CHI] – It was one year ago when Aron and his wife Mirit Hershkop began the writing of this Safer Torah in Crown Heights, and today it was completed.

Family, friends, supporters and other neighboring Shluchim gathered in the Chabad Israeli Center of Rockville, Maryland and together with the Shluchim, Rabbi Shlomo and his wife Sara Beitsh and Sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein filled in the last letters of the Torah and completing it.

Russian Authorities Arrest and Detain 13 Bochurim in Rostov

ROSTOV, Russia [CHI] – As Bochurim in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch in Rostov, were preparing to set out to the resting place of the Rebbe Rashab, in honor of his birthday this past Thursday, Chof Cheshvan, it came to an abrupt halt when a force of police officers entered the building and arrested all the Bochurim that were in the Yeshiva building at the time.

Bochurim and staff members were told to bring their passports and were taken to the police station where they were booked, a process, which took 4 and a half hours. Their crime: some discrepancies with their student visas.

iVolunteer Hosts Kick-Off Event on the Upper East Side of Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY — “Since the Jews were shown unconditional hate during the Holocaust, we must show Holocaust survivors unconditional love in the last years of their lives”, said the coordinator of the iVolunteer kick-off event.

Last Thursday, over 60 people showed up to support the kick-off event of iVolunteer. iVolunteer is a dynamic team of volunteers who visit Holocaust survivors in their homes providing them with companionship and assistance in Manhattan. Since the program’s start in September, iVolunteer has trained and matched over 20 new volunteers.
