Grand Opening of the Oxford Slager Family Mikvah

OXFORD, England [CHI] — A hundred and fifty people attended the grand opening ceremony of the Oxford Slager Family Mikvah, formally opened last week by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger. The state-of-the-art Mikvah was built by Chabad of Oxford on the site of the Oxford Chabad House, 75 Cowley Rd, and cost over £250,000.

STATEN ISLAND, NY — A torrent of rain sent the thousands attending Staten Island fest for Russian speakers scurrying for cover, but not Chabad rabbinical student Aharon Teleshevsky and Mark Tokar, 16.

Teleshevsky had helped Tokar wrap tefillin just moments before, a first for Tokar since his bar mitzvah. “I don’t do prayers, normally,” he said.

Houston’s Chabad-Lubavitch of Uptown, where a new Mommy and Me program is flourishing, has its sights set on bigger and better quarters.

HOUSTON, TX — In the largest of the 48 contiguous states, thinking big is a way of life. So it comes as no surprise that when the opportunity arose to make the Chabad-Lubavitch Center of Houston bigger and better, the local Jewish community was ready and willing to chip in.

Wednesday – Rally at the Ohel

There will be a Rally at the Ohel this Wednesday, June 18th, for all children ages 5 to 12, busses will be leaving 770 at 5pm and returning at 7:30pm. $3.00

On Tes Vov of each month, when the moon is at its fullest, the Rebbe would g to the Ohel to daven. Join us each month to take part in a grand rally, recite the 12 pesukim, sing songs, and learn about the Chassideshe Yomim Tovim. Connect with other children to daven at teh Ohel and participate in a meaningful program that makes the Rebbe proud.

Bnos Chomesh Academy’s First Year-end Banquet

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — It was hard to tell who was most proud at Bnos Chomesh Academy’s first year end banquet: the parents, the students, or the staff. On Sunday, June 15th all were present to celebrate the success of the school’s very first year. Appreciation awards were given to each student in recognition of her contribution to the school. A slide show presentation of the year’s highlights had the entire audience “oohing,” “ahhhing” and laughing.

Burned Synagogue Gets New Hope

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A local synagogue destroyed by fire has a new torah, thanks to a generous gift from a stranger.

On Sunday, members of the Chabad Shul, along with members of the community, attended the dedication of a new torah.

The torah, which can cost as much as $40,000, was donated by a woman n honor of her parents.
