With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Chana bas R Yosef Levi Andrusier of Crown Heights this Shabbos morning at the age of 91.

The Nifteres is survived by her children Yibadlu Lechaim Tovim: R Yerachmiel (Crown Heights), Mrs Leah Gurkov, (Montreal, Canada), R Laibel (Crown Heights), R Avromel (Crown Heights), R Moshe (Staten Island, NY), Mrs Chaya Sorah Tenenbaum (Crown Heights), Mrs Rochel Spritzer (Crown Heights). Her son R Refoel passed away in the summer of 2000.

The Levaya will be Sunday morning, 9:30am at Shomrei Hadas and passing 770 at 11:15am

MASSTRICHT, The Netherlands — The Jewish community of Maastricht, Netherlands, together with the municipality and the local Sphinx Tiles manufacturer, arranged for the reburial of Jewish remains from an 18th century cemetery.

According to local historians, the area surrounding the planned construction of a new Sphinx building was used by the Jewish community as a cemetery from 1782 to 1822. When officials with the company learned of the cemetery's supposed presence, they notified Rabbis Yaakov Yitzchak Schapiro, director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Limburg and North Brabant, and Binyomin Jacobs of Chabad-Lubavitch of the Netherlands and a member of the Rabbinical Centre of Europe, who suggested that a team of archaeologists supervise the necessary digging.

The story is told of an elderly woman – an expert embroiderer – who approached a Rabbi, with a magnificent mantel that she hand crafted for the Synagogue's new Torah Scroll. Enamored by the lush fabric and colorful embroidery, the Rabbi immediately rushed to the ark, removed the Torah and placed the mantel over it.

As they shared a moment of delight adoring the lovely new cover, the Rabbi noted, to everyone's disappointment, that the new cover was several inches shorter than the scroll.

Thanking the woman for her sincere thoughtfulness and effort, the Rabbi gently explained that while it was a true masterpiece it would not work, since it was too short.

Huge Success for Chabad at Chicago’s Walk with Israel

CHICAGO, IL [CHI] — This past Sunday, Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois had an incredibly successful day at the Chicago Jewish Federation’s annual Walk with Israel program. Over 12,000 people throughout Chicago joined the program that culminated with an indoor fair that featured FIVE Chabad booths.

2. The Rebbe now begins discussing Sefiras Ha’Omer:

One of the verses commanding the Jewish people to count the Omer says, “You shall count for yourselves - from the morrow of the rest day (Mi’ma’cha’ras HaShabbos), from the day when you bring the Omer of the waving - seven weeks, they shall be complete”.
