PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton University appointed Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Eitan Webb as an official chaplain after a student-driven campaign to afford the local Chabad House full recognition. The move represents a complete reversal of a administrative decision last year to deny Webb the post.

AUSTIN, TX — Chabad at the University of Texas at Austin recently cleared out its building at 2101 Nueces St., west of campus, in preparation for renovating the Chabad Jewish Student Center.

Father and Son is back in Sydney

SYDNEY, Australia [CHI] — Although it’s now winter in Australia and the nights are longer, Tzivos Hashem in Sydney is as active as ever. Organized by the Yeshiva Centre, Chabad Centre of NSW, Australia, fathers and son’s of all ages came this Moitzoai Shabbos Kodesh to study together a sicha, enjoy some nosh, hear a great story and win a prize.

Boruch Dayan Haemes – Rabbi Yaakov Ganzburg OBM

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rabbi Yaakov Ganzburg OBM from Milan, Italy.

Rabbi Gansburg was the son in law of Rabbi Yisroel Noah Blinitsky. Rabbi Gansburg and his wife lived in Milan where he was a “shochet,” with the consent of the Frierdike Rebbe. In recent years he was very weak and resided by one of his daughters in Miami.

He is survived by his children: R Menachem Mendel Hilel (Milan, Italy) Mrs Sarah Blank (Miami, FL), Mrs Dina Perla Tsfasman (Crown Heights), R Yosef Yitzchok (Nachlas Har Chabad, Israel), Mrs Chana Liba Raichik (Los Angeles, CA), Mrs Rachel Raviski (Toronto, Canada), R Avrohom Shlomo (Kfar Chabad, Israel), and R Noah (Brazil).

The Levaya will be Sunday evening, 10:00pm at Shomrei Hadas and passing 770 at 10:30pm, then to Israel for burial.

The Nifteres is survived by her children Yibadlu Lechaim Tovim: R Yerachmiel (Crown Heights), Mrs Leah Gurkov, (Montreal, Canada), R Laibel (Crown Heights), R Avromel (Crown Heights), R Moshe (Staten Island, NY), Mrs Chaya Sorah Tenenbaum (Crown Heights), Mrs Rochel Spritzer (Crown Heights). Her son R Refoel passed away in the summer of 2000.

The Levaya will be Sunday morning, 9:30am at Shomrei Hadas and passing 770 at 11:15am

MASSTRICHT, The Netherlands — The Jewish community of Maastricht, Netherlands, together with the municipality and the local Sphinx Tiles manufacturer, arranged for the reburial of Jewish remains from an 18th century cemetery.

According to local historians, the area surrounding the planned construction of a new Sphinx building was used by the Jewish community as a cemetery from 1782 to 1822. When officials with the company learned of the cemetery’s supposed presence, they notified Rabbis Yaakov Yitzchak Schapiro, director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Limburg and North Brabant, and Binyomin Jacobs of Chabad-Lubavitch of the Netherlands and a member of the Rabbinical Centre of Europe, who suggested that a team of archaeologists supervise the necessary digging.
