Jewish Women Gather in Krivoy Rog

KRIVOY ROG, Ukraine [FJC] — This week, a seminar took place, involving women from the Jewish community of Krivoy Rog – a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine – and other nearby communities. The event was attended by about 40 people between the ages of 25 to 50 years.

The seminar was called “Jewish wisdom – The basis of a Jewish home”, the idea of which was put forward by the wives of Chabad Lubavitch emissaries serving in the region (namely, Mrs. Ziva Edery, Miri Strasberg, Michal Zelikson), together with Tatiana Kutz, the Director of the Krivoy Rog Ohr Avner Fund.

LARNACA, Cyprus — The island’s chief rabbi, Arie Zeev Raskin, has claimed that the 350 members of the Jewish community in Cyprus have become targets of “hate crimes” and “anti-Semitic offenses”, mainly by Muslims, and that the local authorities are not doing enough to protect them.

Fire Displaces Large Jewish Family Last Night

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — An electrical fire broke out in the ceiling of a home on Eastern Parkway. The incident took place at around 9:00pm on Motzoai Shabbos inside of 821 Eastern Parkway between Kingston and Albany on the third floor.

The father of the household first noticed the fire while he was exercising when he smelled the acrid smell of smoke and quickly evacuated the entire house and called 911. FDNY arrived as flames and thick smoke was pouring out of the ceiling of the house and the quickly went to work on dousing the fire.

Op-Ed: My dear Shluchah…

My dear Wife,

As I sit at home with the kids while you are away at the Kinus Hashluchos, I thought it would be a good time to put my thoughts on paper.

I would like to make a tribute to you;
To your constant work (yes I think it is real work)
To your constant smile (even when there is no reason to)
To the constant hosting (and they get excited at 15 guests for Rosh Hashanah dinner)
To your constant example to our children (I can tell by the look in their eyes)
To inspiring a whole town about the truths of life (think of all the people you have touched)
For dealing with a less than perfect husband (no comment on that)
