A PETA activists recorded a video in a slaughterhouse in Uruguay, depicting cows being treated inhumanely. The cows are lifted by a chain attached to one leg and then restrained by workers for the slaughter. The OU, which gives the Hechsher on the slaughterhouse, said two years ago they wanted to stop this practice. However since the raid on Agriprocessors, the OU has not been willing to endanger the country’s supply of kosher beef.

BISHKEK — The 2,000-member Jewish community of Kyrgyzstan suddenly lives in fear following an attack on its only synagogue after rebels last week apparently overthrew the government in a bloody uprising in which more than 80 people were killed.

As part of their Geography and History curriculum, year 3 pupils visited the Tower of London. MONTREAL, Canada — An e-mail campaign has been taking place in recent weeks to bring awareness about incidents of crime against the religious Jewish Lubavitch community in the Côte des Neiges area, to prompt more police involvement.

An e-mail from the organization Anshei Lubavitch, which has received numerous responses over several days, charges that police have been “passive” in reacting to several incidents, most recently the robbery of a 12-year-old boy.
