The Atkin’s Diet. The Scarsdale Diet. The Banana Diet.
In a world of hard-to-keep, outlandish, and deprivation diets, a balanced diet composed of healthy and vitamin-packed food is finally “in.” There’s been a lot of talk on exotic superfoods such as acai and gogi berries and quinoa, but typical staple grocery items also belong to this category. They include blueberries, broccoli, salmon, and chicken.

Last year the Avi Chai Foundation published a watershed study on Hebrew school education. One of the most intriguing findings was the emergence of a new force in this arena: Chabad-Lubavitch. The report, authored by former Jewish Theological Seminary provost Dr. Jack Wertheimer said that Chabad has taken a bold new approach to Hebrew school. Committed teachers, creative curricula, and a new program are infused with excitement and vitality.

The alleyway was dark, narrow and rocky. At times could be lonesome if that is where one ends up. But that was not the destination. A few more steps and I would be there. I knew I would be greeted with smiles and warmth that surpasses any expectation. I braved that alleyway and walked through the gate enveloped by an ambiance of fire, music, energy and young welcoming hearts; quite the combination and ingredients for a perfect way to erase the memory of that alleyway. There were young women of all different interests; Teachers, college students, writers, musicians, artists and the list goes on. Though I’m sure there was not one person around that bonfire who thought the same, we were all bound together in unity and spirit on that glorious night of Lag Ba’Omer.

What might a glass serving dish with a platinum accent and a pie slicer have in common with a bouquet of calla lilies and a bottle of pinot noir? All bring a smile to the face of a Shabbat hostess. And what sets them apart? The serving pieces will grace the Shabbat table for years to come.
ESPN’s award-winning primetime newsmagazine E:60 told the unusual story of undefeated world champion and future rabbi YURI FOREMAN in the episode that aired tonight.
