AUSTRALIA — On Friday, Cheder Chabad in Sydney had their grand finale for the ‘Kovod Ze Lzeh’ program. With boys walking away with glass chess sets, pictures of the Rebbe, and lots of other prizes.
The polls have officially closed and the estimated count of those who came out to vote is around 2000, by far the largest turnout for any elections in Crown Heights history.
Over the next hours the ballots will be counted and the tally will be announced when done.

Hundreds of residents already turned out for today’s special elections for Vaad Hakohol and Gaboim, marking the culmination of the Din Torah which concluded with a ruling after Pesach.
More than 100 teenagers from Jewish youth groups across New York City’s tri-state area descended on a wooded park in West Milford, N.J, for two hours of paintball fun and a massive barbeque designed to boost their collective Jewish pride.

We are holding community elections to choose candidates for Vaad Hakahol / CHJCC and for Gabboim, to run the crown jewel of crown heights, 770 Eastern Parkway – the Rebbe’s shul.
I will ask of you to please read the following with the attention that it deserves, and don’t judge the ideas by the writer but by the content.
The Rebbe once said that everything which happens in Crown Heights has an effect on the entire world. In a footnote, the Rebbe adds that (being that this generation is the last generation of golus, and the first generation of geulah, hence the culmination and climax of all generations therefore, the Rebbe emphasizes that) everything that happens in Crown Heights has an effect (not only on this generation but also) on all the previous generations.
When his wife Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, of righteous memory, was cured of a sickness, the Rebbe did more than pay the physician. He thanked him for his success, which came from the true “Healer of all flesh and Performer of wonders.” With Gimmel Tamuz approaching, The Avner Institute presents this letter, courtesy of Rabbi Sholom Ber Weinberg and Mrs. Rishe Deitsch, where the Rebbe elegantly writes of the physician’s role and remittance due to level personal and professional care.
Hundreds of Anash and Bochurim will be staying at the Ohel over Shabbos, as preparations are being made to greet the ten’s of thousands that will visit the Ohel of the Rebbe in honor of his Yohrtzeit.
We urge to come out and vote for us this Sunday in the Vaad Hakohol elections. We decided to run for Vaad Hakohol because we believe we can make a difference. Since you are already taking your time to read this paper, you already know the importance of having a viable Vaad. Therefore, we will not spend time explaining what we think the Vaad should do; instead, we will explain what we can do for the Vaad and for the community.
The members of the ‘old Vaad’, Rabbi Shmuel Plotkin, Moshe Rubashkin, and Dr. Zvi Lang weigh in on the current elections with a very sharp letter that was delivered to homes in the neighborhood. The letter takes issue with a number of important topics on the upcoming elections.
On Yud Shevat, 5725 (1965), fifteen years after the Frierdiker Rebbe’s passing, the Rebbe gave a historic talk on the critical importance that Chassidim document the stories of their generation, in order for the younger generation to learn from them, and to pass them on to future generations.
