Parade Organizers Thank Volunteers, Police

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Pulling off a parade as great as it was, is thanks to thousands of hours of work by hundreds of volunteers, which was all pulled together by the organizers. In recognition of their work a thank you dinner and awards ceremony was held.

ULY’s 7th Graders Rewarded for Outstanding Achievement

Lubavitcher Yeshiva’s 7th graders enjoyed a day of fun in celebration of their outstanding achievements in class. Every student not only wants to learn but wants to feel appreciated and wants to know that someone takes an interest in how well he’s learning (and he also wants to have fun)!

Well that’s exactly what these seventh graders learned on their trip today; Rebbi appreciates their achievements. The boys enjoyed hours of fun with a very intense miniature-golf competition, frightening batting cages and a ride on a superb go-kart raceway!

Over 50 shluchim gathered this past weekend in Omaha, Nebraska for the U.S Western regional Kinus.

Hosted by Rabbi Mendel Katzman and his wife, and chaired by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, the weekend was one of rejuvenation, giving the shluchim the necessary inspiration and motivation to take back to their families and communities.

ULY OP Holds 1st Annual Cheese Cake Competition!

In the sprit of Shavuos in conjunction with the Reb Shmuel Shrage Middos Program, United Lubavitch Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway held a competition for their students to go home and bake the nicest cake they can. The most lovely tasty Chalev Yisroel cakes of all shapes and sizes were rated for taste, presentation and consistency.

New Shluchim to Texas!

Cheder Menachem’s Annual Mishnayos Awards Ceremony

As every year, from Yud Shevat thru Yud Alef Nissan, talmidim of Cheder Menachem in Los Angeles worked in preparing a special and most befitting present for the Rebbe in honor of Yud Alef Nissan with their annual Mishnayos Be’Al peh program; together, the talmidim learned and were tested on a total of over 118,000 lines of Mishnayos, Tanya, Siddur and Yediyos Kloliyos. This number includes: 9,770 Mishnayos – including 151 complete Masechtos and 1,222 Perakim, 7 Sedarim, as well as 80 Perakim of Tanya Baal Peh.

Vandals Desecrate Historic Jewish Graves in Louisiana

Vandals overturned at least nine Jewish graves in Shreveport’s historic Oakland Cemetery this weekend (on May 15, 2010, police say). The culprits could face hate crime charges.

Culprits could face hate-crime penalties in what Shreveport police say was the weekend desecration of several historic Jewish graves.

Investigators went to Oakland Cemetery, on the edge of the downtown and Ledbetter Heights neighborhoods, about 2 p.m. Saturday after a groundskeeper reported that nine headstones had been overturned or broken.
