Rabbi Mendel and Chaya Goldberg recently established the Chabad-Lubavitch Jewish Center in Playa del Carmen, a tropical paradise south of Cancun, Mexico.
About an hour south of Cancun and an hour north of Tulum, Mexico – smack in the middle of the Riviera Maya – sits the scuba-diving haven of Playa del Carmen. With an infusion of capital and visitors, the once-sleepy fishing village is undergoing a rapid transformation into a tourist’s paradise.
Earlier this month, Jewish chaplains employed by various Federal, state, and local prisons serving the Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio regions, together with more than fifty Aleph Institute volunteers convened for a conference at The Aleph Institute’s Northeast Regional Headquarters.

As a culmination to a whirlwind of a Shabbos, students attending the annual Chabad on Campus Shabbaton were treated to a grand ‘Melaveh Malkah Carnival’. Attractions ranged from Jousting and Rock Climbing to creative Jewish craft projects.
