Chabad’s Approach: Create. Invite. Serve.

For those of you who live in the real world and not in professional Jewish circles, consider yourselves blessed that you don’t have to attend one of those all-day conferences on “The Future of Judaism.” I’ve attended my fair share, and what I remember most is constantly being on the hunt for another cup of coffee. It’s not that I don’t love the mission of these gatherings; it’s just that professional lingo has a way of putting me to sleep.

Domenico Lepore is an anomaly. Like many Jews, he studies the weekly Torah reading, often with commentaries that range from the Maimonidean to the mystical. Like many Chabad Chasidic Jews, he adheres to the daily study regimen of Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya (Chitas). His mornings begin with the Hayom Yom—the “thought for the day” compiled by Rabbi Menachem M.Schneerson, culled from the talks of his predecessor, Rabbi Joseph I. Schneersohn.

Today, Wednesday, June 15, between 1:30 and 4:00 PM EST, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in the Thomas Eagleton Federal Courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri will be hearing the appeal and rendering a life-altering decision in the trial of Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin.

Governor Cuomo’s To’eiva Marriage Bill Now Just One Vote Shy of Becoming Law in New York State

Thirty two votes are needed to approve the bill Gov. Cuomo formally introduced on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Sen. Roy McDonald (R-Saratoga) – in a dramatic reversal from his earlier opposition – became the second Republican in as many days to give his blessing to To’eiva marriage, bringing Senate support to 31 votes – Just one vote shy of becoming law in New York.
