Volunteers rebuilt a 15 foot menorah in less than six hours after vandals destroyed Scotland’s biggest public ‘chanukiah’ in an antisemitic attack.

European and North American human rights activists may have thought that the Lithuanian newspaper Vakaro žinios (‘The Evening News’) could not outdo its past antisemitic sensations, but the 21 December, 2011 edition full front page with a huge banner headline ‘THE JEWS’ may herald a new low in the series of 1930s grade disseminations of hate against Lithuania’s tiny and shrinking Jewish minority (around 95% of the country’s Jewish population was killed during the Holocaust).

Chanukah Lights Up Brisbane

Chanukah lit up Brisbane, Australia’s CBD as the Jewish community joined with friends and visitors to celebrate the first night of the eight day festival with the lighting of a six metre tall menorah in Reddacliff Place, Queen Street Mall on the evening of Tuesday 20 December.

Hebrew School Sends Chanukah Package to Soldier

Celebrating the holidays are always more joyous when celebrated with family. For the Joyce family of Highland Falls, NY this won’t be possible this year as their dad, Michael, is a US soldier in Afghanistan helping to fight the war on terror.

Mayor Lights Menorah at ‘Occupy Lincolnwood’

Over 200 people gathered Wednesday night adjacent to the Lincolnwood, IL Village Hall to celebrate Chanukah. The event was titled “Occupy Lincolnwood – with the light of Chanukah.” Channel 5 and Channel 7 were thinking it was a real Occupy event. Needless to say they were quite disappointed that they were duped, it was a village-wide Chanukah party.
