Oholei Torah PTA has released the names of all the lucky winners in its Chinese auction this past Motzei Shabbos and Sunday. The prizes range from $10,000 cash to a pair of ‘Crocs.’ The biggest winners, of course, are the students of Oholei Torah, who will benefit greatly physically and spiritually from the proceeds of this event. With great sadness we inform you of the passing of R’ Moshe Goodman of Melbourne, Australia, 63. He was born in Riga, Latvia during the times of communism, and together with his family lived as Lubavitcher Chassidim under the watchful eye of the KGB.
As hundreds of Israel supporters converged on Manchester’s “Big Tent for Israel,” Chabad was on hand to offer participants the opportunity to do a Mitzvah. The Chabad booth, manned by L’Chaim-Chabad Rabbis and volunteers, helped many put on Tefillin or do other Mitzvos to merit the land and people of Israel.

Rabbi Yitzchok Hecht, director of Chabad of Ulster County (Kingston, NY), attended the birthday celebration of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. While there, he met the governor’s father, former governor Mario Cuomo, and they discussed the special relationship between the elder Mr. Cuomo and the Shliach’s grandfather Rabbi J.J. Hecht OBM.
During the holiday season, we often read inspirational stories that raise our awareness of the plight of the needy and celebrate a spirit of helping the unfortunate who have suffered from hard luck, injury and hurt.
Hundreds of men, young and old, participated in a Chinese auction Motzei Shabbos to benefit the Oholei Torah educational institute. The evening was dedicated in memory of Reb Dovid Malka OBM, who kept the bochurim in Zal and Mesivta well fed throughout the years, and Reb Moshe Abelsky OBM, beloved bus driver for the elementary school over two decades.

Yisroel Newman makes an interesting point in his op-ed, Chevra Ahavas Yisroel, One Year Later: CAY has no business holding itself out as an official shul in Crown Heights unless it complies with the community’s standards. Therefore, if CAY wishes to continue operating in Crown Heights, it has an obligation to the community to change the way it operates.
