Chabad on Campus held its acclaimed International Shabbaton and Conference for students this past Shabbos. Despite Hurricane Sandy and all of the related travel and administrative complications, the Shabbaton was experienced without a hitch and attracted a crowd of 650 participants from across North America and Europe including many who experienced a travel ordeal to get there.

New York state residents have the highest state and local taxes as a percentage of income in the United States, while Alaskans have the lowest tax burden, according to a report on Tuesday by the Tax Foundation.

The University of Illinois’ Zeta Beta Tau fraternity partnered with Illini Chabad and The Friendship Circle on Sunday to host the sixth annual Alley Oop for Autism fundraiser for children with special needs.

They are all gathered in Crown Heights, in 770 and at the Ohel for the annual spiritual recharge. This afternoon the registration officially began, headed by Rabbi Schneur Najar and his staff, who welcomed Shluchim with warm greetings.

A farbrengen was held at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Sao Paulo, Brazil, celebrating the Rebbe Rashab’s birthday and welcoming the four Talmidei HaShluchim who arrived to spend the year studying and assisting the junior students.

Chabad of Orange County Aids Sandy Relief Efforts

Under the direction of community member Sima Chana Zelenko of Monroe, Chabad of Orange County organized a relief effort to help some of the hardest hit areas in New York.
Alternate Side Parking Suspended Through Monday
Alternate Side Parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended citywide through Saturday, November 10 to facilitate storm recovery efforts. Alternate Side Parking regulations are not in effect on Sunday, November 11 and will also be suspended for Veterans Day, Monday, November 12, as previously scheduled. All other parking regulations remain in effect.
