Community Board 6 hosted a meeting to help empower senior citizens to avoid becoming victims of crime. Senior citizens got whistles to blow if they are victimized or spot a crime in progress.

Older people in neighborhoods just south of Bronx Park say they hear gunfire outside their windows nearly every night. They are targets for muggers and scammers as well.

Holocaust Survivor Speaks in Wanaque

NEW JERSEY — Around 45 people listened to the inspiring story of a Holocaust survivor, who, as a teenager, participated in a successful mass escape from the Nazi death camp Sobibór. The Chabad Jewish Center–Upper Passaic County invited Philip Bialowitz to tell his story of survival at the Wanaque Golden Age Club.

YU Girls Inspired at Crown Heights Shabbaton

Last Friday afternoon, a group of students of the Stern College for Women at the Yeshiva University stepped off a bus and took a group photo at 770 Eastern Parkway. Some of the girls fidgeted and felt out of place among the crowd of black and white, but by the end of their weekend they would no longer use the phrase “out of place” to describe how they felt in Crown Heights.
