It’s hard to say what the best part was of the Midwest Shabbaton, held April 19-21, 2013 at the Chabad Center of Jewish Life at the Univeristy of Illinois. Just spending Shabbat with over 300 fellow college students representing 10 universities at the largest Jewish gathering in the Midwest was pretty exceptional.

A group of pre-Teen hoodlums attempted to mug an iPhone from a Jewish girl on Montgomery Street, she bravely fought them off. A passing cop car witnessed the incident, chased the muggers and caught them – a riot nearly broke out.

The Lag B’omer Parade of 1983 was going to be extra special. A beautiful regal platform was built for the Rebbe. On his side was a smaller platform for Rabbi JJ Hecht and Rabbi “Uncle” Yossi Goldstein who would emcee the program, and Eli Lipskier’s band.

CTeen Goes Extreme
For the past few years, “Extreme Teens Out West” – spearheaded by – Schneur Zalman Notik – geared towards Jewish boys primarily from the Midwest, has embarked on an exhilarating adventure across six states in the southwestern United States. With its growing popularity, the camp has been welcomed under the umbrella of the CTeen network, opening its doors to teens from Chabad houses across the US and Canada.
