Old Friend Donates Torah to Israeli Chabad House

The completion of a Sefer Torah was celebrated in the Israeli town of Nes Tziyona, at the Chabad center directed by Rabbi Shagi Har-Shefer. The Torah was donated by Rabbi Yitzchok Horowitz of Crown Heights, who was befriended and guided by Shagi when he was new to Yiddishkeit and studying at the Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad many years ago.

In tribute to former Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir, who passed away this past Shabbos at the age of 96, JEM has posted an excerpt from the film exploring his relationship with the Rebbe.

Ches Tammuz was Rabbi Zalman Kazen‘s first Yartzheit. Rabbi Kazen was a most modest, frielicher, and emeser Chosid. He hated publicity and honor, but he certainly deserved it.
