The Torah was written in memory of Rebbetzin Rochel Duchan, Shlucha in Cincinnati, Ohio, who passed away during childbirth 26 years ago. It was sponsored by her husband and eight children.

On Sunday, representatives of Neturei Karta participated in the annual memorial service in Ramallah marking the day of the passing of PLO Chairman Yassir Arafat. They stood out in the crowd in their black clothes, each wearing identification tags over a background of a Palestinian flag.

An elderly Brooklyn woman died in a fast-moving, two-alarm blaze early Monday. The fire broke out about 4:35am in a deli on the ground floor of the apartment building on Franklin Ave. in Crown Heights, officials said.
