Dovid Karpov has been the rabbi at the Darkei Shalom synagogue since it was built 15 years ago. Like many people in his congregation, Karpov grew up in a Soviet-era family that was not religious. He says he had to learn his faith for himself.

About a dozen men prayed recently at Darkei Shalom, a Hasidic Jewish synagogue in the working-class neighborhood of Otradnoye in north Moscow.

Actually, I can bet on the fact that I will have north of 50 comments slamming me and my creed. He laid out a clear danger of radicalized Islam and the regime of Iran to the world, raising Bernard Lewis‘ comment that mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent for Iran, but an inducement.

TSA to Allow Arba Minim on Airplanes

In advance of the weeklong Jewish festival of Sukkot, the Transportation and Security Administration reminded its airport screeners and the travelling public that Jewish travelers may carry the Four Species – a palm branch, myrtle twigs, willow branches, and a citron fruit known in Hebrew as an etrog – through security checkpoints and onboard planes.

Mendy Lebowitz, Shmuly Posner and Yaakov Tisashvili, three Students of Yeshiva Bais Dovid Shlomo in Connecticut, went out to Yale University to spread the light of Judaism in honor of the the High Holidays. Many students put on Tefilin with them, among them the young man pictured above, and many more received a guide for the upcoming Holidays.
