Just as neighborhood families were finishing up the Pesach cleanup they began lining up for delicious pizza from Pomodori‘s brick ovens. Their staff was hard at work pumping out pie after pie as fast as customers were able to order them.

Acharon Shel Pesach is particularly associated with Moshiach and the future redemption. The Baal Shem Tov instituted the custom of partaking of a “Seudas Moshiach” on the afternoon of the last day of Passover; in addition to the Matzah eaten at “Seudas Moshiach”, the Rebbes of Chabad added the custom of drinking four cups of wine, as in the Seder held on Passover’s first days.

In this week’s edition of Letter & Spirit, we present a letter from the Rebbe in which he deals with the question of whether one should keep two days of Yomtov while in Eretz Yisroel if one resides in Chutz L’Aretz and owns a home or property in Eretz Yisroel. The letter was written through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by the latter’s son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.

Reminder: Don’t Forget to Make an Eruv Tavshilin
It is forbidden on a holiday to do any act in preparation for the following day, even if the following day is Shabbat. However, the sages created a halachic device, called an eruv tavshilin, which allows one to cook food on a holiday day for use on a Shabbat that immediately follows it.

Nine people were injured in a 3-alarm fire that engulfed three buildings on St. Marks Avenue in Crown Heights yesterday, Wednesday. One 14-year-old boy jumped from a window 3 stories high to escape the flames.

Israeli Girl Dies in Thailand Boat Fire
A 12-year-old Israeli girl on a Pesach trip with her family was killed Wednesday when their tour boat caught fire in the Andaman Sea off Thailand’s southwestern coast. More than 100 people, including many foreign tourists, were rescued from the boat.

22-Year-Old Beaten to Death on Way to Chabad Seder in Berlin
A 22-year-old Israeli man was beaten to death on the streets of Berlin, Germany, shortly before the onset of Pesach. The man was beaten so badly he was rendered unidentifiable by local police, save for the Israeli passport in his pocket.

Alternate Side Rules Suspended Thursday-Saturday
Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations will be suspended Thursday through Saturday, April 9-11 for holiday observances. All other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect.

Chabad Marks Pesach at Baseball Opening Day
Over 4,000 participated in the first ever Chabad’s Passover at Marlins Park at the Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves game in Miami.
